Tunisia: ABO Wind commissions 12 PV systems at poultry farms

German renewables developer ABO Wind AG has commissioned 12 photovoltaic (PV) rooftop systems totaling 1.5 MWp at poultry breeding farms run by Poulina Holding Group in Tunisia.

German renewables developer ABO Wind AG has commissioned 12 photovoltaic (PV) rooftop systems totaling 1.5 MWp at poultry breeding farms run by Poulina Holding Group in Tunisia.

The project involved the installation of solar modules on six buildings at two sites located some 40 kilometers (24.8 miles) south-west of the Tunisian capital Tunis. In the town of Testour, ABO Wind put up solar modules of 900 kWp in total, while rooftops in Medjez el Bab host a combined 600 kWp.

Construction was completed in six months, ABO Wind has said, adding that the rooftop systems are its first connected project in Africa.

The German company was in charge of the planning, procurement and construction of the modules. The 12 systems together can generate around 2.6 million kWh per year.

ABO Wind has been present in Tunisia for four years and keeping an office there since 2018. In 2019, the company secured tariffs for a 30-MW wind project near Tunis and a 10-MW solar project in the Gabes Governorate in south-eastern Tunisia.
