Tunisia: Afreximbank grants $ 500 million financing line

The African Export and Import Bank (Afreximbank) has provided Tunisia with $ 500 million in funding.

This fund is earmarked for a program to promote trade and investment with other countries of the continent.

The loan agreement was inked on June 22, 2019 by Afreximbank President Benedict Orama and Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia Marouane El Abbassi, on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the pan-African institution, Ecofin reported on Monday.

This sum will be broken down in Tunisian banks so that they can finance the local actors who have ambitions in Africa, an area in which Tunisia is far behind Morocco, for example, not to mention China and Turkey…
