Tunisia: aircraft company ”Latécoère” will not relocate to Mexico

Aircraft company Latécoère, chief supplier of Airbus, is not planning to reduce its activities in Tunisia and relocate to Mexico, its Board Chairman François Bertrand said at the end of a meeting with Tunisian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Riadh Bettaieb.

He, however, said his group is “very concerned about the current situation in Tunisia and especially as regards the instability and disruptions.”

“We would like to keep on reinforcing our activities in Tunisia in coming years, we already have hired 300 people last year and we are very proud of our Tunisian teams with whom we have built-up strong ties, ” Bertrand added.

A French website had recently published news about a possible relocation of “Latécorère” to Mexico.

The company now employs about 900 people in Tunisia and plans to provide 200 more jobs this year, according to the Tunisian officials who attended the meeting and this depending, according to the Board Chairman, on the improvement of the situation and the settlement of the difficulties facing it.
