Tunisia: Algeria willing to supply more LPG

Algerian Energy Minister Noureddine Boutarfa and Tunisia’s Minister of Energy, Mining and Renewable Energy, Hala Cheikhrouhou, presided over work of the Tunisian-Algerian Bilateral Commission in Algiers.

The meeting focused on ways and means of strengthening bilateral energy cooperation, in particular with regard to the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to Tunisia.

The Algerian Minister said the National Company for the marketing and distribution of petroleum products and derivatives NAFTAL has the means to supply the border regions of Tunisia with more LPG. He added that “we are prepared to meet the needs of Tunisia in LPG and to increase the quantities supplied”.

The two sides have agreed to strengthen the Algerian-Tunisian joint company Nomed, created in 2003 by Sonatrach and ETAP and to extend the scope of its activities outside Tunisia and Algeria.

Similarly, the two ministers discussed the possibility of renewing contracts for exports of gas to Europe via Tunisia “Transmed”.
