Tunisia: Amending finance law foresees budget deficit of 9.8 billion dinars in 2021

The presidential decree No. 3 of November 15, 2021 on the amending finance law of 2021, published in the Official Gazette shows the budget deficit will be 9.8 billion dinars, against a deficit of 7.9 billion provided for by the Finance Act 2021.

Budget expenditures will be around 44.2 billion dinars (against 40.2 billion), while budgetary resources will amount to 34.4 billion dinars (against 33.1 billion).

Tax revenues will reach 30.8 billion dinars, compared to 29.8 billion provided for in the 2021 Finance Law, while non-tax revenues will be 3.1 billion dinars (compared to 2.5 billion).

The wage bill for civil servants (compensation expenditures) will have to reach 20.3 billion dinars, compared to 20.1 billion initially planned by the 2021 Finance Act, thus representing 46% of overall budget expenditures.

According to the amending finance law, the number of state employees amounts to 661,703.
