Tunisia: ATB returns to profitability in 2022

The Arab Tunisian Bank (ATB) has just published its financial statements as at December 31, 2022, which will be submitted for approval to the ordinary general meeting to be held on April 18, 2023.

After the setback in 2021, ATB quickly returned to profitability, posting a net profit of 11.4 million dinars in 2022, compared with a loss of 68.5 million the previous year.

This performance is essentially the result of the combined effect of the 10% increase in net banking income to 319.7 million dinars and the 35% decrease in provisions for loans and advances, from 107.7 million dinars in 2021 to 69.8 million dinars at the end of last December, a reduction of around 38 million dinars.

In fact, banking operating income increased by 10% to 664 million dinars, compared to 602 million a year earlier. Operating expenses amounted to 344.4 million dinars, also rising 10%.

The bank’s operating result thus turned positive at 22.3 million dinars, compared to a negative result of 59.4 million dinars in 2021.
