Tunisia: bank loans to individuals up 5.8% in November 2021

Loans to the economy rose at a faster pace in November 2021, posting a growth of about 5.9% year-on-year, against an increase of 5.4% in October 2021 and 6.6% a year earlier.

According to data from the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), this development has affected loans granted to professionals by 5.9%, against 5.3% in October, especially those of short term (+5.3%), as well as loans granted to individuals with an increase of 5.8% (against 5.6% in October), mainly those for housing (+4.5%).

On the other hand, consumer credit and medium- and long-term loans to professionals saw their growth slowed down, rising by +6.9% and +6.6%, respectively, in November 2021, from +8% and +7.4% in October 2021.
