Tunisia: BCT reports decrease in deposits in January 2015

The Executive Board of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) reported at its meeting Wednesday, February 25, a decline in deposits in January 2015, after the improvement recorded in 2014 (-0.2% against 1.3% December 2014).

This decrease was primarily due to the contraction of deposits and slowing down of the progress of term deposits.

Meanwhile, lending to the economy experienced a slowdown in their evolution, in the same month, i.e. 0.6% against 1.5%, in particular following the stagnation of medium and long term loans, says the Bank.
