Tunisia: current account deficit widens compared to 2014

The Executive Board of the Central Bank of Tunisia noted at its meeting on February 25, 2015, the continuing pressures that have marked the evolution of current payments throughout last year bringing the current account deficit to 472 MTD in January 2015, equivalent to 0.5% of GDP, up 14.6% compared to the level of the same month of 2014.

The cover of this deficit was ensured through major consolidation of net inflows of foreign capital, following the mobilization of a bond on the international capital markets for a billion dollars.
