Tunisia: BH sees its NBI increase 18% to 266 MD at end September

Activity of the Banque de l’Habitat (BH) in the first nine months of 2017, compared to the end of September 2016, was essentially marked by an increase in customer deposits by 13.45% to 5.7 billion dinars, mainly from the positive evolution of sight deposits (+ 32.64%) and deposits of savings (+ 8.88%).

Outstanding receivables from customers grew 19.73% to 7 billion dinars while the investment securities portfolio increased by 17.36%.

Net banking income (NBI) for the period thus posted an increase of 18.12% over one year to reach 266.7 million dinars, mainly due to the positive development of bank operating revenues by 23.11% , resulting from the rise in interest income (+ 19.33%), commissions (+ 18.5%), revenues from the securities and investment portfolio (+ 43.82%).

At the end of last September, the bank’s operating expenses grew by 29.19% year-on-year, while operational expenses increased by 16%, mainly due to higher salaries and general operating expenses.
