Tunisia: Bouchammaoui and Chabchoub take a stake in UIB

In a recent declaration that it had crossed a threshold, City Cars, the Kia car dealer, said it now held 10.003% of the capital of UIB bank.

It also stated that it intended to continue buying and selling shares without any other intentions, such as seeking a seat on the board of directors.

UIB, whose majority shareholder is the French Société Générale, is preparing to sell all or part of its shares.

City Cars, in which the Bouchammaoui and Chabchoub groups in particular hold 66.5% of the capital via the Automobile Investment Company, closed the first half of 2023 with a total turnover of TND 144.5 million and a net profit of TND 15 million.

At the end of December 2022, UIB had a net banking income of TND 490,850 million and a net profit of TND 132,172 million.
