Tunisia: Budget balance shows surplus of 488.7 million dinars at end June

The budget balance showed a surplus of 488.7 million dinars at the end of June 2024, compared with 26.3 million dinars in the same period of 2023, according to the document entitled “Provisional results of budget execution” published by the Ministry of Finance.

This improvement is explained by the 13% increase in budgetary resources to 23,254.6 million dinars at the end of June 2024, thanks mainly to the increase in tax revenues (+10.3% to 20,870.1 million dinars).

Budgetary expenditure also increased by 8.2% to 22,235.1 million dinars, due to the rise in financing expenditure (+36.1% to 3,270.9 million dinars), remuneration expenditure (+3.6% to 11,239.7 million dinars), administrative expenditure (+6.7% to 800.1 million dinars) and intervention expenditure (+8.1% to 5,069.5 million dinars).

On the other hand, expenditure on financial operations fell by 21.9%, from 24.7 million dinars, at the end of June 2023 to 19.3 million dinars at the end of June 2024. The same is true of investment expenditure (down 0.4% to 1,835.6 million dinars).

In the first half of 2024, cash resources from domestic and external borrowing amount to 7,488.5 million dinars.
