According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Energy, unveiled to Africanmanager, grey cement production reached 4.75 million tonnes during the first six months of current year, up 0.99% compared to the same period in 2014 (4,751,264) which recorded 4.7 million tonnes (4,704,506).
According to the same source, the amount sold locally reached 3.73 million tons (3,736,007) until the end of June against 3.98 million tons (3,986,986) in the first half 2014, down 6.29%.
Internationally, the exported quantities increased from 722,248 tons in the six months of 2014 to 966,095 tons until June 30, 2015, corresponding to a growth of 33.76%.
For white cement, the latest figures showed a decrease of 11.07% in production. It reached 222,408 tons during the six months of 2015 against 250,096 tons during the same period in 2014.
Local sales of white cement totaled 96,551 tonnes through June, posting a 6.69% decline compared to the same period in 2014 (with 103,476 tons sold).
The quantities exported have reached 135,372 tons, down 11.98% compared to the same period of 2014, recording 153,792 tons.
