Tunisia: Cepex supports the citrus industry

The Tunisian Export Promotion Center (CEPEX) has decided an automatic discount of 33% on the cost of transportation of Tunisian citrus on the new maritime line between Sfax and Novorossiysk, Russia, following a request from GIFruits (Inter-Professional Fruit Group) that reached the CEPEX on January 11, 2017.

It is noteworthy that, in the interests of business in this line, CEPEX has adapted its subsidy scheme accordingly, by operating the FOPRODEX (Exports Promotion Fund) to provide important and specific financial benefits in order to stimulate The export of products from the countryside (tomatoes, potatoes, etc.).

An exclusive 50% on the cost of maritime and multimodal freight was decided at a national committee that met last August at the House of the Exporter.

The new prescription supplements the contractual provisions subject of the agreement signed between CEPEX and the CTN in October 2016 on the granting of an automatic reduction of the third of the value of maritime freight for several agro and craft products.

Each year, the FOPRODEX grants to the citrus industry an average amount of 400 to 500 dinars under direct support in favor of exports, to maintain the competitiveness of these products on foreign markets.
