Tunisia: CMF and Microfinance Supervisory Authority sign cooperation agreement.

A cooperation and information exchange agreement was signed, Monday, September 15, 2025, between the Financial Market Council (CMF) and the Microfinance Supervisory Authority.

This agreement is part of the efforts to enhance coordination between financial regulatory authorities and to uphold the principles of transparency and efficiency in supervising financial market institutions, microfinance institutions, and crowdfunding platforms.

This agreement, the CMF specifies, aims to establish an operational framework for cooperation between the two entities in the areas of regulation and supervision, particularly focusing on the exchange of information and data necessary for carrying out supervisory tasks, conducting joint supervisory missions, organizing joint training programs, and sharing technical expertise.

It also provides for consultation on legislative and regulatory texts, as well as on the application of international standards in force.

Furthermore, the agreement reaffirms the commitment of both authorities to protect the rights of investors and clients of the institutions under their supervision, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, particularly in the areas of anti-money laundering, combating the financing of terrorism, and the proliferation of weapons.

The signing of this agreement reflects the shared commitment of both authorities to develop institutional cooperation and strengthen the resilience of the financial sector, thereby contributing to enhanced stability and better protection for investors in the financial market, as well as for beneficiaries of microfinance and crowdfunding services.
