Tunisia: consumer price index up 5.5% (10 months)

The consumer price index posted a 5.5% increase in the first 10 months of this year against 3.4% during the same period of 2011, up 0.8 % compared to September 2012 and 4.8% compared with December of 2011, said Jameleddine Gharbi, Minister of Regional Development and Planning.

Exports rose 3.9% during the first 10 months of 2012, against an increase of 8.8% over the same period of 2011, recording a decline of 5.1%.

Meanwhile, imports have increased by 13.5% against 6.3% during the same period last year. This is why the trade deficit worsened. The coverage rate has fallen by 6.3 percentage points to 68.8% during the first 10 months of 2012, against 75.1% in the same period of 2011.
