Tunisia: consumer prices rise 0.8% in a month in April 2019

Consumer prices increased by 0.8% after 0.4% in March 2019.

This rise is mainly due to the 4.9% increase in clothing prices, miscellaneous goods and services 0.9% and transportation 0.7%. In addition, food prices fall by 0.1%

Besides, apparel prices rose 4.9% from 1.3% in the previous month due to the end of the winter sales.

The prices of clothing items went up by 4.7%, those of shoes by 5.5% and those of fabrics by 1.6%.

Transport prices grew 0.7% due to the increase in fuel and lubricant prices for vehicles by + 3.9% (+ 2.7% in April 2018).

In contrast, car prices fell 1.4%. Again in April, prices for miscellaneous goods and services increased 0.9% due to higher prices for personal care and personal effects by 0.9% and 2.5%, respectively.

Over a month, food prices are down 0.1% due to lower prices for fresh vegetables and poultry.
