Tunisia: Cooper Energy to drill second sidetrack at Bargou Permit

Cooper Energy and its partners are drilling a second sidetrack well at the Bargou Permit offshore Tunisia to enable production testing of the target Abiod Formation.

Hammamet West-3 ST-2 will involve the drilling of a deviated hole from the original wellbore to intersect fractures located by the first sidetrack as well as the original fracture zone.

Information acquired about the reservoir during the drilling of ST-1 is being incorporated into the design of ST-2 to increase the possibility of success.

ST-1 had recorded flow rates averaging 1,290 barrels per day including oil to surface before the test string was blocked by lost circulation material.

Cooper is the operator with a 30% interest while fellow Australian Jacka Resources has a 15% stake.

Dragon Oil holds the remaining 55%.
