Speaking on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at the plenary session on the vote of confidence in the government, Prime Minister Habib Essid said Tunisia currently covers only 50% of its energy needs against 62% before and this following the drop in production in the field.
He, in this context, called for exploiting new sources, such as renewable energy and shale gas, noting that 2/3 of the subsidy go to energy.
