Tunisia: date export earnings up 11.4%

Tunisia’s revenues from date exports rose by 11.4% to 342.2 million dinars (MD) at the end of December 2024 compared with the same period last year, according to data published on Wednesday by the National Agricultural Observatory (ONAGRI).

The volume of dates exported during the first three months of the 2024/2025 campaign (until the end of December 2024) reached 51.3 thousand tons, an increase of 10.5% compared to the same period last year. The average price at the end of December 2024 grew by 0.7% to TND 6.67/kg, compared with TND 6.62/kg at the end of December 2023.

Morocco was the main destination for Tunisian dates in December 2024, accounting for 19.7% of exports, followed by Italy and Turkey with 7.5% and 6.8% respectively.

During the first three months of the 2024/2025 campaign, organic date revenues reached 18.9 MD for a quantity of 1,901 tons exported, with an average price of TND 9.94/kg.

Their share in Tunisia’s total date exports is 3.7% and 5.5% in terms of quantity and value respectively, ONAGRI added.

Germany is the main destination for organic dates, with 25% of the quantities exported, followed by the Netherlands and Switzerland with 19% and 14% respectively.
