Exports of Tunisian dates have reached 97,100 tons, worth TND 547 million, up in volume and value by 9.7% and 5.8%, respectively, compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI).
By variety, 80.8% of the quantities exported are the variety “Deglet Ennour”, or 78,500 tons representing a value of TND 511.7 million.
“The 1st country importing Tunisian dates is Morocco with 19,800 tons worth 126.8 million TND “, says ONAGRI.
For the date season 2022-2023, the production of dates is estimated at about 340,000 tons, against 368,000 tons recorded during the past season, down 7.6%.
This production is distributed as follows: 285,000 tons of Deglet Nour (down 6.6%) and 55,000 tons of crushed dates, recalls the same source.
