Tunisia: Domestic oil production down 13% by end of March

National crude oil production reached 281 kilotonnes (kt) by the end of March 2026, marking a 13% decline compared to the end of March 2025, according to the report on “Economic Conditions (March 2026)” published Monday by the National Observatory of Energy and Mines.

This decline affected most oil fields, notably Ashtart (-62%), Ezzaouia (-100%), Gherib (-47%), Franig/Bag/Tarfa (-52%), Halk el Manzel (-11%), Adam (-17%), and Bir Ben Tartar (-41%).

In addition, production at the Cherouq, Durra, Anaguid Est, Jinane, and Benefsej Sud concessions has been suspended since September 23, 2025, due to maintenance work.

However, some fields recorded production improvements, including Sidi Marzoug (+80%), Cercina (+10%), Chergui (+84%), Nawara (+7%), and Ouedzar (+2%).

According to the same report, the average daily oil production fell from 27,200 barrels per day at the end of March 2025 to 25,000 barrels per day at the end of March 2026.
