Tunisia: energy resources fall 7% a year (Feriani)

Slim Feriani, Minister of Industry and SMEs, said Thursday, December 13, 2018 that the country’s energy resources are in continuous decline, 7% annually; they are of the order of 5 million tons in 2016 against 7.8% million tons in 2010, reports Express fm.

Demand for primary energy grew by more than 2 percent, from 8.4 million tons in 2010 to 9.2 million tons in 2016, the minister said.

He noted that the energy deficit grew from 0.6 million tons in 2010 to 4.2 million tons in 2016.

Indeed, he added that the state has implemented an energy strategy based primarily on the reduction of the energy density by 3% per year during the period 2016 -2030, which will make it possible to achieve energy savings of nearly 30%.
