Tunisia – EU: €1.2 billion for development in Kef

European Union (EU) ambassador to Tunisia Patrice Bergamini said the European financial aid to Tunisia will reach €1,200 million over the next four years (2017-2020), i.e. a budget of €300 million on average per year.

He added during a visit to Kef governorate on Wednesday that one-third of this amount will be allocated to strengthening development in the interior regions and creating sources of income for residents of these regions, particularly in the fields of cultural and ecological tourism, small trades and agricultural activities.

The European support for Tunisia aims to support reforms and revitalization, to support regional development and to explore potential for growth and employment while at the same time serving the environment, he said.

Bergamini visited, on the occasion, projects co-financed by the European Union, including the Intermediary Health Center at Kef, the Center for Women Victims of Violence in Kef and the Women’s Textile and Clothing Training Center at Nebeur.
