Exports of Tunisian organic products reached more than 35 thousand tons, valued at nearly 290 million dinars, with the exports of more than 60 varieties of organic products by 50 exporters to 27 countries.
Italy was the first destination for these exports, followed by France, Spain and the USA, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.
Olive oil accounted for 73% of the total of these exports, followed by dates and then the rest of organic products.
In the case of organic olive oil, more than 26 thousand tons were exported, down by 34% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Export earnings reached about 235 million dinars, i.e. a decrease of 18.5% compared to the same period of the past season.
The quantities of exported organic olive oil were directed to 17 destinations, the largest being Italy (45%), France (6.0%), Spain (5.12%) and USA (4.7%).
The quantities of packaged olive oil represented about 8% of the total quantity of organic oil exported, i.e. 1990 tons, rising by 2.6% compared with the previous season.
A price increase of 23.5% was observed during the 2015-2016 season compared to the same period of the previous season.
Exports of organic olive oil are provided by 30 exporters.
Concerning organic dates, nearly 7,717 tons of this product were exported, down 2.5% compared to the previous season.
The earnings generated by these exports reached 44.3 million dinars, with a decline of 2.3%, still compared with last season. Exports were directed to 19 destinations, including Germany (26.3%), the USA (22.2%) and the Netherlands (18.5%).
Regarding other organic products, exports amounted to 1,570 tons, up more than 26% compared with the previous season.
Revenues reached more than nine million dinars, rising by 5%.
