Tunisia: FDI down 5.6% annually over 5 last years

Foreign investment fell by 5.6% per year during the last 5 years and its contribution to the overall investment declined from 21% in 2007 to 11% in 2014, Yassine Brahim, Minister of Development, Investment and International Cooperation said on Friday at a workshop on investment incentives, held in Gammarth on the sidelines of the 5th Tunisia investment Forum “TIF 2015”.

Brahim added that the annual flow of foreign direct investment (FDI) is relatively limited, not exceeding 2.3% of GDP, while in countries such as Morocco FDI accounts for 6% of GDP.

Yet, FDI in Tunisia represent only 20% of the total volume of private investments.
