Tunisia: fishing exports increase by 24% in 2017

Exports of sea fishing and fish farming products increased by 24% in this year compared to 2016 with an overall value of nearly 400 million dinars, Director General of the Inter-professional Group of Maritime Production, Rakia Belkahia told Express FM.

She also added that the fisheries and fish farming sector produces nearly 120 thousand tons a year, of which 16320 tons, or 12%, are exported, which makes it an important link in the chain of the national economy.

Indeed, it contributes to increasing the incomes of the actors in this sector, knowing that 53 thousand maritime fishermen exercise and have 11,500 boats in 41 ports all along the Tunisian coastline.
