Tunisia: flow of foreign investment down 23.4%

The flow of foreign investment has decreased by 23.4%, at the end of June 2016, compared to the same period of 2015, to 915.1 million Tunisian dinars (MTD), according to the latest report of foreign investment published by the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA).

During H1 2016, this flow was distributed at a rate of 882.9 MTD in FDI (-7.4% on 2015) and 32.2 MTD in portfolio, in free fall (- 86.7%).

While foreign investment in energy recorded a small increase of 3%, to 505 MTD between 2015 and 2016, those in industry, amounting to 296.5 MTD, fell 6.1%.

The decline of FDI was noticeable in the services sector, as it went down from 145.4 MTD in June 2015 to only 78.9 MTD at the end of the 1st half of 2016 (-45.7%).

In terms of agriculture, the very modest investments (2.53 MTD) edged up 8.3%.
