Tunisia: foreign currency reserves at their highest level since September 2017

Driven by tourism receipts and external financing, Tunisia’s net foreign currency reserves have returned to their September 2017 level in terms of import days.

Thus, according to data from the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), the net foreign currency reserves amounted to 17.2 billion dinars, as at August 14, 2019, covering 96 days of imports, their highest level since September 2017.

Compared to the same date of the previous year, the foreign currency reserves grew by 6.2 billion dinars, the equivalent of 25 days of import.
