Tunisia: foreign investment in services increases sharply

Investments with foreign participation in service activities increased from 101.4 MD during the first eleven months of 2016 to 200.6 MD during the first eleven months of 2017, soaring 97.8%, according to the latest figures from the Agency for Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII).

This rise is due to both partnership projects whose investments reached 164.8 MD against 75.3 MD during the first eleven months of 2016 (+ 119,1%.), and 100% foreign projects whose investment reached 35.8 MD against 26.2 MD during the first eleven months of 2016, up 36.6%.

It should also be noted that the number of projects with foreign participation decreased by 9.3%, from 1082 during the first eleven months of 2016 to 981 during the first eleven months of 2017.

This decrease is the result of the 20.7% drop recorded in the number of partnership projects (322 projects during the first eleven months of 2017 compared with 406 during the same period of 2016), as well as the one registered in 100% foreign projects, where the number reached 659 against 676 during the first eleven months of 2016.

As for the jobs to be created, they saw a 7.8% growth for partnership projects and a decrease of 16.9% for 100% foreign projects.
