Tunisia: Gafsa mining region almost paralyzed

Unemployed youths are continuing their sit-in at the railway in Ghannouch, meeting point between the Governorates of Gafsa and Sfax to demand what they call their right to employment in the Gafsa Phosphate Company and the National Railway Company of Tunisia.
The sit-in caused the halt of trains loaded with phosphate. According to the officer in charge of communication in the company, quoted by our colleague from Al Jarida, the company suffered heavy losses because of strikes and sit-ins that have hit the mining area.
Production has also been interrupted for a week across the chemical group, except in the region of Chfaier of Faf, causing daily losses estimated at billions.
