“The Tunisian Government needs a bit more time to implement its action plans,” said Mr. Javed Talat, World Bank (WB) Executive Director.

Mr. Talat, who is paying a working visit to Tunisia, conferred, Monday, with Minister of Investment and International Co-operation Riadh Bettaieb.

He expressed “his preparedness to convince the WB to support Tunisia, particularly through contribution to funding the second program to strengthen economic activity in 2012 and development projects, in addition to technical assistance to these projects according to the

priorities set by Tunisia in the next period,” said a statement of the Ministry of Investment released Monday.

The WB official also stressed the major role of the private sector, particularly small and medium enterprises in boosting investment, the same source added.

The Ministry of Investment said the World Bank Executive Director called for taking needed interest in the consolidation of south-south co-operation in light of the business opportunities offered in Tunisia.
