Tunisia: agreement to support charter flights signed

A partnership agreement to support air transport and promote the Tunisia destination was signed, Monday in Tunis, between the Tunisian National Tourism Board (ONTT), the Hotel Trade Federation (FTH), the Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies (FTAV) and Tunisian airlines Tunisair, Tunisair Express and Nouvelair.

The agreement, which covers the period between March 1 and May 31, 2012, aims to encourage tour operators chartering with Nouvelair to keep their charter flights through a financial support designed to strengthen the marketing efforts made by this air company.

A management committee composed of a representative of each of the signatories will be established.

It will be responsible for validating the support to be given to each flight and monitor the operation of these flights.

This support is not systematic and needs prior approval for flights whose filling rate is higher than 50% and lower or equal to 90% (i.e. a maximum of 40% of the capacity).

The price of the vacant seat will be calculated and billed on tax exclusive basis and fuel surcharge included.

The convention was signed by the Director General of ONTT, the chairmen of the hotel trade and travel agencies federations and the CEOs of Tunisian airlines, in the presence of Transport Minister Abdelkarim Harouni and Tourism Minister Elyes Fakhfakh.
