Tunisia: IMF delegation to make official visit on March 24-25

A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will make an official two-day visit to Tunisia on March 24 and 25, 2022, to continue discussions between the Tunisian authorities and the Fund on a new loan program.

The possibility of securing a new loan of $ 4 billion (about 12 billion dinars) for a period of four years will be discussed.

This program is conditioned, in particular, by the implementation of structural reforms to which the government of Najla BOUDEN will commit.

It is expected that the IMF delegation will meet with members of the government including the Minister of Finance and the heads of national organizations namely the Tunisian employers’ organization UTICA and the labor union UGTT.

An IMF mission had conducted a virtual visit to Tunisia from February 14 to 22, at the end of which IMF mission Chief for Tunisia, Chris Geiregat, said “We made good progress and will continue our discussions in the weeks ahead” over a potential multi-billion-dollar bailout for the country.
