The inflation rate rose 6.5% in March against 5.8% in February 2013 and 6% in January of the same year, said the National Statistics Institute (INS) based on the results of periodic survey of consumer prices.
This rise is due mainly to the 8.8% increase in prices of the group “food and beverage” compared with March 2012.
Increases were recorded, according to the INS, in price of meats (13.3%), edible oils (12.7%), vegetables (11.2%), fruits and nuts (11.2%), milk and derivatives and eggs (9.3%), in addition to the rising prices of beverages (5.5%) and alcohol (11%).
