Tunisia: Japan lends 213 MTD to finance expansion of sewage project

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Thursday, granted Tunisia a credit worth 213 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) to finance an expansion of a sewage project in ten governorates.

The financing agreement was initialed by Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Riadh Bettaieb and Vice President of JICA and Head of Middle East Department Masakazu Ichikawa

A working meeting was held on this occasion between the two parties, to examine the progress of the projects funded by JICA.

A list of 9 development projects was presented by the Tunisian authorities to JICA for funding, including projects on flood management and control in wadi Medjerda, creation of a wastewater treatment plant in Greater Tunis, a desalination station in Sfax, a highway in the center of the country, in addition to plans to build a solar power plant in Tozeur and Gabes and another power production station in Bizerte.
