Tunisia: lifting of bank secrecy brings 18 MTD tax revenues to the state

The lifting of bank secrecy, the application of which took effect at the beginning of this year, has brought to the state tax revenues of around 18 million Tunisian dinars (MTD), reports the Attounissia newspaper, quoting sources from the Ministry of Finance.

The lifting of bank secrecy concerns legal and natural persons and companies subject to a detailed tax audit, and that according to Article 12 of the 2014 supplementary budget law.

The source refrained from revealing the number of operations carried out to date, as well as people, companies and sectors that have been subjected to extensive tax process under the law.
