Tunisia: manufacturing industries edge down

The added value of the manufacturing sector declined in Q3 2015. Chemical industries recorded a negative growth of 5.2%, against 18.6% recorded in Q2, according to figures from the National Statistics Institute (INS).

The building materials, ceramics and glassware industry recorded a rate of -1.2%, textile / apparel and leather industry (-1.3%), mechanical and electrical industries (-0.1%), and miscellaneous industries (0.3%).

On another level, the added value of agricultural and food industries sector went up 4.1%.

The manufacturing sector has declined to around 0.8% in Q3 2015, compared to the same period of 2014 and recorded a slight increase (0.7%) compared to Q2.
