Domestic natural gas production has decreased by 11%, according to the latest report from the National Energy Observatory. ,
This was due, according to the same source, to the drop in production of Hasdrubal field (-24%) and decreased production of Miskar field (-5%) and Chergui field (-21%) following the cessation of production between March 10, 2015 and April 17, 2015 due to social problems.
Moreover, imports of Algerian gas were down 6% at the end of April 2015 compared to April 2014, standing at 655ktoe. This decline is due to a partial substitution of natural gas by an amount of 145 ktoe of fuel for power generation because its import price is still below that of imports of Algerian gas.
This downward trend has also affected domestic supply in natural gas, i.e. -10% to 1,456 ktoe.
