Operations of supplying the local market in basic foodstuffs experience disturbances in these exceptional circumstances, causing unlawful practices, including, in particular the increase in prices, said the Organization of Consumer Protection (ODC) in a statement on Monday. While welcoming the spirit of patriotism shown by the Tunisian people in this historic step, the ODC called on suppliers and consumers to abstain from seeking to serve their own immediate interests. The Organization invites suppliers and traders to observe the rules of sale and prices in effect, urging, at the same time, citizens to rationalize consumption and limit themselves to commodities, pending the return to normalcy. The Organization also calls on the national army to help monitor the market supply in commodities, including bread and milk in particular.
