The Director General of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Jasser Al Harbishi expressed the fund’s willingness to provide necessary support to Tunisia’s development through the financing of projects in various sectors.
Among these sectors he noted, in particular, education, health, agriculture, food security, rural development, water, environment and renewable energy, said a statement from the Ministry of Investment and international Cooperation released Wednesday.
Mr. Al Harbishi, on a working visit in Tunisia, also stressed at a meeting on Tuesday with Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Riadh Bettaieb the importance of coordinating efforts of all regional and international financial structures to boost development in poor countries and developing countries and fight against energy poverty.
According to the same source, the Tunisian official praised the initiative of the Fund to adopt a program of one billion dollars to fight against energy poverty in many poor and developing countries.
He emphasized the interest taken by Tunisia in the program which fits into the guidelines of Tunisia in the field of energy.
