Tunisia: oil exports up, phosphate’s down

The increase in the export sector (18.1%) during the eight months of 2017 concerns the majority of sectors.

A significant increase was observed in the energy sector compared to the same period in 2016, following a rise in the country’s sales of crude oil (909.8 MD versus 412.7 MD) and refined products (580.2 MD versus 282.6 MD), the agriculture and agri-food industry sector, after more sales of dates (375.2 MD versus 332.0 MD), mechanical and electrical industries 18.8%, textiles and clothing and leather 14.6% and manufacturing 11.7%.

On the other hand, the mining phosphates and derivatives sector decreased by 15.2%, following the decrease in Tunisia’s exports of phosphoric acid (272.9MD vs. 405.0 MD).
