Tunisia: olive oil exports edge down 38% to 145 million dinars in January

The season looks bad for Tunisian olive oil. The drop in exports in January suggests a sharp decline in domestic production compared to last season.

The value of Tunisian olive oil exports amounted to 145.5 million dinars at the end of the first month of the current year, against 236.2 million in January 2018, down 38.4%.

This decrease caused a decline by 10.3% in exports of the entire agriculture and agri-food sector in January.

It should be recalled that olive oil exports soared 150% last year between November 1, 2017 and April 30, 2018.

In total, 134,403 tons of olive oil have been exported, which is equivalent to revenues of 1.35 billion dinars over the period.

For the whole year 2018, revenues from exports of olive oil reached 2.12 billion dinars against 1 billion in 2017.
