Data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries on the production of olive oil for the 2017-2018 season are as follows:
– Final production of olives: 1.6 million tons of olives, the equivalent of 325 thousand tons of oil against 500 thousand tons of olives, the equivalent of 100 thousand tons of oil, the previous season last, i.e. up 325%.
-Increased exports of olive oil: 156% in value and 147% in volume.
The European market which absorbs 70% of Tunisian exports received a quantity of nearly 44 thousand tons authorized for export within the framework of a quota (56.7 thousand tons) fixed with the European Union (EU) from January 2018 to October 7, 2018.
