Tunisia: Orange committed to promoting cultural tourism

After the success of the first edition organized in December 2011, Orange Tunisia held its third Orange Mobility Forum under the theme “Mobility for Cultural Tourism.”

This event is part of the operator’s strategy of corporate social responsibility and more specifically the “Developer Program” which involves setting up a virtuous ecosystem around mobility in Tunisia to support all Tunisian developers and create and monetize their own mobile applications.

Elyes Fakhfakh, Minister of Tourism, Mongi Marzouk, Minister of Information and Communication Technologies and Christine Albanel, Orange Executive Director, Communication, Sponsorship and Content Strategy, as well as several professionals and other personalities took part in this event.

Interested in this initiative, Elyes Fakhfakh is especially enthusiastic with the advantage that new technologies can bring to the sector of innovative technologies such as smartphones and tablets.

The representative of the Minister of Culture and Heritage Preservation said this approach may also involve cultural tourism, with the support of new technologies.

For Christine Albanel, Orange’s commitment to this societal process of partnerships with cultural actors is a favorable opportunity to enhance archaeological sites available in Tunisia via modern applications.

She noted that 44% of travelers in 2012 have downloaded a mobile application in connection with their journey. Leisure customers are increasingly booking via their mobiles, she added.
