Tunisia: phosphate production falls 60%

Tunisia’s phosphate production fell by 60% compared to 2010, thus registering losses estimated at more than 5 million dinars, Minister of Energy and Mines, Mongi Marzouk, said at a press conference on Thursday, July 14, 2016 in Tunis.

The minister, however, said his department has, since its creation, intensified its efforts to ensure that production resumes its usual pace and this, together with the Gafsa Phosphate Company (CPG) and the Tunisian Chemical Group (GCT) through the reactivation of environmental companies, solving problems of logistics in interior areas and fighting against corruption.
