Tunisia: Phosphate production to reach 3.8 million tons at end of 2013

Phosphate production will reach 3.8 million dinars by the end of the year and between 5, 6 or 7 million tons at the end of 2014, Secretary of State for Energy and Mines Nidhal Ouerfelli said.

He also indicated that the current national production does not exceed 1.8 million tons, while the average production in this substance was approximately 8 million tons before the Revolution.

In a statement to TAP, Nidhal Ouerfelli announced that the production unit of Redeyef resumed its activities, while that of Umm Laârayess will do the same soon.

He added that the monthly production of phosphate amounted to 650 million tons during the months of September, October and November, against 450 million tons in August.
