Tunisia: phosphate transport by rail improves slightly by 6.4%

The transport of commercial phosphate from Gafsa to the plants of the Tunisian Chemical Group and the the Tunisian-Indian fertilizers company TIFERT in Gabès and Skhira has seen a slight improvement of 6.4%.

Radio Mosaïque FM reported on Monday that the Tunisian National Railway Company (SNCFT) transported 1,080,190 million tons in the first eight months of this year, compared with 1,015,223 million tons in the same period last year, at a rate of around five trains a day on lines 13 and 21.

In addition, the SNCFT was able to armour 300 phosphate transport wagons during the same period, at an estimated cost of 4.8 million dinars, in order to increase phosphate transport capacity in the next period.
