Tunisia: production of CPG reaches 2,780 million tons to September 19

The amounts of phosphate produced and marketed by the Gafsa Phosphate Company (CPG), from the beginning of the current year to September 19, 2013, reached approximately 2,780 million tons, against 2,327 million tons in the same period of 2012, according to data provided Monday by the company’s information officer Ali Houchati to TAP correspondent.

The quantities produced are divided between Metlaoui (798,500 tons) and Medhilla (771,500 tons), while the production of Redeyef was limited to 89,600 tons after the recent resumption and that of Oum Larayes remained at zero.

Thus, the current reserves of phosphate, according to Houchati, reached 3.750 million tones, while they were at 3.271 million tons at the beginning of the year.

The same source estimated the losses incurred by the CPG in 2011 and 2012 are estimated at 200 million dinars, adding that the period of instability of production continues, for social reasons, especially because of sit-ins, and organizational, due to successive changes in the restructuring of the company, after the recovery of the means of production, some of which were outsourced.
