Tunisia: Public debt climbs to 68 billion dinars

Public debt has risen to 68 billion dinars in 2017 against 24 billion dinars in 2010, recording an increase of 43 billion dinars in seven years, said Minister of Finance Ridha Chalghoum.

Speaking at a parliamentary plenary session held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 on the draft supplementary finance law 2017, the minister added that this figure of 68 billion dinars will further increase in the coming years.

It should be noted in this regard that the supplementary finance bill 2017 was passed Tuesday, with 109 votes in favor, 12 against and 5 abstentions.

The law provides additional funding for the state budget for the current fiscal year, which is estimated at 1,825 million dinars resulting from the increase in the budget resources by 305 million dinars and an increase in expenditures by 2,130 million dinars.
